Aglow FAQ

Q: My mom has been treated for fine lines and wrinkles but I’m only in my early 30’s. When should Is tart thinking about coming in for treatments?
A: Your late 20’s and early 30’s are a great time to start thinking about preventative treatments for anti-aging. We usually start thinking about treating things once we already have them, for example we treat wrinkles when we have them. Acne when we have a breakout. But we often don’t think about treating these skin conditions before we start to see damage. By starting an anti-aging routine now, your skin will look young and healthy much longer and need fewer, if any, aggressive treatments in the future. If you start a preventative regime now, chances are you will prolong seeing the signs of aging. You can combine micro-needling and/or micro-current with Life Line’s Stem Cell Skin Care and be well ahead of those pesky fine lines and wrinkles. So to answer your question, there is no time like the present to start a preventative skin treatment regime!

Q: Treatments for fine lines and wrinkles only work if you already have fine lines and wrinkles, right?
A: Not exactly. You will notice the results with treating fine lines and wrinkles more when you already have them, but this also will take longer to treat. Starting a preventative treatment program before a lot of those fine lines and wrinkles have surfaced will give you many more years with a youthful look.

Q: I am active, I eat healthy and I still have cellulite. Is there anything I can do?
A: Cavi Lipo paired with Microcurrent is an excellent option. These treatments use start of the art equipment to alleviate fatty areas on the body that are difficult to get rid of with regular exercise. This process uses ultrasound or ultrasonic waves that only affect the adipose cells (fat). What does this mean? Cavi Lipo is literally melting the fat away! Cavi Lipo is followed with Microcurrent treatment which not only increases the rate at which the dead fat cells are discharged from the body. It also firms the skin and tones the muscles. Following the Microcurrent treatment, you will be given a body wrap or cellulite wrap in conjunction with essential oil. This allows for you to notice results in inches lost as well as a more toned and tighter appearance.

Q: I recently went thru a weight loss and work out, but my abs just aren’t where I want them to be. A friend of mine suggested Microcurrent or Cavi Lipo but both seem scary. I’ve never had any procedure done before and don’t like the idea of needles and chemicals. Is there anything I can do?
A: Yes! All of the services at Aglow Wellness Spa are natural and non-invasive, which means that we use technology to naturally help your body heal. Cavi Lipo paired with Microcurrent, focused on your abdominal area would be an excellent option for you. Q: I’m a guy who had terrible acne as a teenager. As soon as I could grow a beard to cover my scars on my face, I did. But now I want to be able to shave and not have to hide my face. My sister is able to cover her scars with makeup, but that’s definitely not for me. Is there anything I can do?

A: Yes! Micro-needling would be an excellent option for you. Micro-needling is an underused treatment that can serve as an inexpensive alternative to invasive treatments, such as lasers. To put it simply, micro-needling tricks your skin into producing new collagen and elastin. It’s important to know that before you start a treatment like this you know that what you are treating (acne scars in this case) did not get there overnight. Therefore, treating with non-invasive, natural treatments like Aglow offers, will take time. But they payoff is worth it. You are giving your skin an opportunity to fix itself, from the inside out, something you do not get with chemicals which are just a quick, temporary fix. Micro-needling is a permanent treatment that will help you look your best and feel great about your skin.

Q: I’ve driven by your place and it looks like an office. Is it really a wellness spa?
A: Yes! This is a question we get asked quite often. Aglow Wellness Spa was given an opportunity to take over a space in an office complex in Lakeville. This means that you can’t really tell what we have to offer until you walk inside. But once you do, you will be amazed by the tranquil, spa like quality that is offered inside these “office like” walls. Come inside and see what Aglow Wellness Spa has to offer!

Q: I love reading reviews about places but there haven’t been any new reviews in a while. Did you go through a change recently that now I am seeing more activity?

A: Great question! Yes, we recently received our spa license when be brought on our CIDESCO Certified International Esthetician, Betsey McKenzie. It’s with Betsey’s ability and expertise that we are now offering new services, such as Micro-needling. We have a great referral and review program, so give us a call and see what you can do to help get the word out that we are still here and better than ever!

Q: I’ve had a micro-needling treatment before and didn’t see any results. I notice you suggest using extra products and recommend coming in more than once (which I wasn’t told at my other place). Are the products necessary? How many times would I need to come in before I saw results?

A: Thank you for the great questions! Results and number of treatments will vary between each individual person. A good guideline with micro-needling is in series of 3. Most people will not notice any change in their skin after the first treatment. This is because the effects are cumulative and each treatment adds better results. Most people will notice a slight change after two treatments and almost everyone sees a difference after 3. Your esthetician will help you decide if you should do another series of treatments after this point. For sever conditions, it can take as many as 9-12 treatments. It is absolutely necessary to the efficacy of the treatments to use a micronized growth factor skin care product every day to aid in the production of new, healthy skin. Let’s start with why you didn’t see results after your first treatment. Micro-needling is a procedure where after the first treatment your esthetician is able to get to know your skin. It’s after the first treatment that they really understand your skin and what is being treated. Think of the first treatment as a first date where you ask all the “getting to know you” questions. When paired with Line Skincare Products you will see the best return on your skincare investment. Why should you use these products? To put it in simple terms, think of getting your hair professionally colored. If you don’t use the products your stylist recommends for your new color, it’s going to fade fast. If you use the recommended products, you will get the longest out of your color. The same concept applies to your skin and the products you put on it. If you use products like Line Skincare, you are treating your skin from the outside in, as well as the inside out. You will notice results after your second and third treatment, with results being the most noticeable when paired with the recommended products.

Q: I saw something about vibration therapy and how you get a better work out in less time. This seems too good to be true. What is the truth about vibration therapy?

A:  Vibration therapy is a training method employing low amplitude, low frequency mechanical stimulation to exercise musculoskeletal structures for the improvement of muscle strength, power, and flexibility. Vibration training has been advocated as a therapeutic method in the treatment of osteoporosis, sarcopenia, and metabolic syndrome.  It is used in many different industries such as fitness, physical therapy, rehabilitation, professional sports as well as beauty and wellness applications. Vibration therapy is always done through a series usually with a minimum of 5 compound poses including half-squat, half-push up, wide stance squat, triceps dip and the plank hold. These positions are usually held for a maximum of 1 minute and are designed to burn the maximum amount of energy in the shortest amount of time while causing no joint damage. Simply put, yes, do you get a great workout in less time! While this is not a replacement for a regular workout regime, it is a great way to “shake things up” in between treatments at Aglow.

Q: I am getting married next year and I have fairly bad acne scars. I know I can wear makeup to cover them but I want to be able to wear no makeup on my honeymoon with my new husband and not feel self-conscious. I am paying for my wedding myself so I don’t have a lot of money to spend. Is there anything I can do?

A: Congrats on your upcoming wedding! And yes, there are a few options you can do. I would recommend coming in for a consultation or sending photos of your skin to our esthetician to find out what would be the best course of treatment for your skin. Miro-needling paired with Line Skin Care’s Growth Factor Therapy may be a great option. Keep in mind, you did not develop these scars overnight so treatments like this take patience and commitment. But once they are over, you will have beautiful skin that will last a lifetime!

Q: Why does micro-needling take so long to see results? Wouldn’t it be easier for me to just go get Botox?
A: While Botox seems like a good idea, it’s a quick, non-permanent solution for fine lines and wrinkles. It’s also a chemical you are injecting into your body. Treatments like Microcurrent and Micro-needling work with your own skin to repair itself with no chemicals and with results that are permanent. While these options are not a quick fix, most clients see results after the first few treatments, depending on what condition their skin is when they begin treatment.
